My Favorite Equipment

Everyone has their favorite tools to work with.  I just want to share 3 of my favorites.

The first is the mixer that I have had for many years.  The newer models (shown below) are even improved over what I have.  It is the Bosch Universal Mixer.  The 800 Watt motor is in the bottom so you can easily add ingredients and see how your food batch is progressing.

Its motor is powerful enough to mix 10 pounds of mashed potatoes, 408 cookies per batch, 14 loaves of bread per batch, etc.  It has 20+ attachments (purchased separately) which include: cake and cookie paddles, wire whips, dough hooks, an attachable bowl scraper, a 6 cup blender, a spiralizer for vegetables, a slicer shredder and an ice cream maker.

This efficient machine costs more than its competitors but I have loved mine for many years and highly recommend it.

Another favorite canning tool is the
  Victoria Strainer

It is a food strainer which is especially good for making
applesauce, berries with seeds, tomato sauces and purees.
When I make applesauce, I cook my apples until they are soft.  Then I scoop them into the hopper and turn the handle crank.  All the peels, cores, seeds come our the waste funnel and all the lovely pureed applesauce comes out the other to be put in bottles and canned.

Some of it's features are:
Large sturdy hopper
Easy cranking handle
Extended waste funnel
Drive shaft sealed to prevent leaks
Durable, steel reinforced auger
Stainless apple/tomato screen included
Additional screens available
Rubber clamp liner
Clamps to tables and countertops (for hand cranking)
Optional motor attachment

In the olden days, I used various time consuming methods to do applesauce, tomato purees and berry seed removal.  This is so easy.  I highly recommend it.

The last is the hand cranked
  Dovier Ice Cream Maker
When our children were still home, I would make 1 gallon of yogurt at a time.  We flavored a quart with some frozen orange juice concentrate and some sugar and poured it into our hand crank Dovier and each child would take a turn turning the crank.  In about 1/2 hour, we had delicious frozen yogurt that we all had participated in making.
This device has a metal cylinder that is put into the freezer in advance.  When you are ready to make the frozen ice cream, yogurt, sorbet or frozen drink you place the cold cylinder inside the plastic outside, attach the paddle and crank top, slide into locked position and begin making your delicious treat!
